Auntie Mary Gives Hope Through Life Lessons
If you know me, you know that my biggest passion is the youth, and that’s why all the students call me “Auntie Mary” when I visit their high school through, Young Entrepreneur Society (YES).
The reason why I am so passionate about the youth is that I know how it feels to go through problems. We all know and remember those times when we wish we had someone to talk to. We wish we had someone that we could turn to for advice or vent to. I am an Auntie Mary to so many high school students and adults for one main reason, I wish I had an “Auntie Mary” growing up.
As I always love being known as Auntie Mary, I realize that a more significant impact needs to be made. So many other students in the world do not have an Auntie Mary they can turn to. I am still only one person
I thought about ways to create a more significant impact and how to touch so many more lives. I also realized that there are going to be students that are going through problems or situations that I may have no idea what they are going through because I never went through it. However, I realized I have such a vast network, and this mission to impact the youth is so big, why not get others involved?
Ladies and gentlemen, that is how “Letters to Me: Life Lessons I Wish I Knew” was born! “Letters to Me” is a book that is in production right now and within that book is tons of life lessons that contributing authors have written to themselves. Many times, as we get older, we look back and think to ourselves, “Wow, if only I knew then what I know now, that situation would’ve been different, or I would be a total beast now!” I’m sure you’ve thought about it. Shoot, I know I think about that every week.
“Letters to Me” is a movement and mission to give back to our youth. It’s a way for us to give them the security to know that whatever they’re going through or have been through, has light and growth at the end of that tunnel. There is a new hope that whatever breakup they had, or whatever friendship fell apart, there is still a new day. Through our life lessons, we are giving to our future leaders the strength, knowledge, and encouragement we wish we had at their age. “Letters to Me” is a guarantee that everyone in each and every high school and youth program has an opportunity to learn life lessons from people just like you, the ones who have lived through the struggles and survived.
So, I encourage all of you to have the strongest desire to give back to the youth. Be that open ear for them to vent to, the shoulder to cry on, or that voice of reasoning and advice. “Letters to Me” is a mission to give everyone an Auntie Mary.
