Giving the Keys to Success

This month we are focusing on the idea of giving back, what it means, and how giving actually brings you rewards. Coming from a background in the church and a culture that is known for giving back, I feel as if giving is in my DNA. But giving is a fundamental key to success as well. I don’t mean like once you have millions of dollars you have to give back fo a publicity stunt. But here are three reasons I believe giving back is a key to success, even if you aren’t successful yet.

How you treat one dollar is how you will treat one million dollars.

Growing up I didn’t have millions of dollars, my family wasn’t wealthy by any means but we could give. If I couldn’t give money I knew I could time or effort. This has carried through with me to this day. Now no matter how much money I make I still have that giving spirit. If you say you don’t have enough to give back, then you will always say you don’t have enough to give back. If you have ten dollars left, and you decide to buy a pack of cigarettes instead of using it to try and gain more wealth you will follow this pattern no matter how much money you have. Multiply that ten dollars by ten and say you have one hundred dollars now, most likely you will spend it on small things that don’t bring investments back. As you keep multiplying that ten dollars however you choose to spend the money will just be multiplied as well. So if you take that ten dollars and give some of it back to someone in need, or you take your time to help that person then when you have wealth in abundance you will, in turn, spend it giving back and helping others.

Are you like the Dead Sea?

The dead sea is known to be the saltiest body of water on this planet. It is in fact so salty that nothing in this body of water is alive. So why is there such build-up of salt in this body of water? Well, there is an inflow to the Dead Sea, but there is no outflow. Water comes into the Dead Sea and the salt deposits stay there. This kills everything in the water and everything around the water. So do you want to be like this? Don’t worry I’m not telling you to stop eating salt, I'm more focused on the inflow without outflow. If you have wealth coming in, and nothing going back out you have all this build up inside of you. This is like the salt in the Dead Sea. Once you have an outflow and create apathy where you are giving back to your surrounds it will lift everything around you up.

Lifting those around you

Have you ever seen a Spartan race? Where at the end they have this massive wall that you have to run up? At the end of that wall do you see people pushing each other off the wall? Absolutely not, they are hanging over the wall grabbing hands to help people up. After everyone has finished the race there are people angry and upset at each other, Generally not, there is an overwhelming sense of community. When you do something and there is a culture that uplifts others around you there is a sense of pride in those around you. This is what giving back can create in your community. If you spend time helping those around you this brings a sense of pride in the community that inspires others.

SO let us give back to our communities and start to build massive Success together!
