No Day But Today
What does the number 525,600 mean to you? Have you ever broke down a year into minutes? It seems like they go faster as we get older! The question I have for you is “How do you quantify a year?”
It never mattered to me when another candle was added to the annual cake. I was just going through the motions of life and routines of a working husband/father never taking a moment to reflect on the past 365 days. Sound familiar?
The exact moment when I began to measure time was at 8:01 am on February 7th, 2016, when I lost my daughter Aubree Mae after 8 days of life. I learned more from her in those 8 days without her saying a word to me then I could learn from somebody who lived 100 years. My whole world was turned upside down, and I had two roads in front of me; one was paved, downhill, dark, full of excuses and blame or a dirt path that seemed uphill, curved, people along the way and daylight to lead me further. You wouldn't be reading this today if I chose the downhill road.
No Day But Today!
My 24 hour daily routines began to change into “no matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up and never give up!” I wanted to look at problems and be a part of solutions. I was tired of hearing horror stories from my fellow military members and VETs struggling through the VA mortgage loan process. It led me to join the Zinkill Group and creating a business development department with a primary focus on improving this experience. We are now witnessing more and more families next to sold signs at their dream homes using their earned benefits!
Nutrition, family time and healthy lifestyle were lacking in the Nyland household and seems to be very common in most households. Sound familiar? Distributing health and wellness through Kyani saved my life and helped thousands of others by adding the Triangle of Health, and Fleuresse Skin Care to our everyday routine. Additionally, we started family walks every day, more date nights, jump on our trampoline with my kids trying not to throw out our backs, making healthy meals together, buying annual theme park passes instead of paying bar bills, and we get outside in the fresh air instead of on electronics in the air conditioning.
Another lifestyle shift was reading and listening to professional and personal development books instead of watching television and listening to the radio. Wow! What a change in my mindset, from negativity and political issues to inspiring me to create two positive social media campaigns: Glass Half Full and #neversettlelifestyle.
Losing Aubree Mae has made me learn the world isn’t about me, it is about serving others and impacting their day. Who would have thought I would be contributing to a magazine!? Being asked to do this impacted my life! Such a blessing!
