Self-Love Can Change Your Life & Business

Being a woman entrepreneur from a third world country, in the past I didn’t feel confident in my ability to accomplish big things.  I didn’t have many resources and I was starting from scratch. I found myself working late nights, seven days a week, and not taking time for me.

We are always caught up in making something happen and working towards the next big thing, but it is so important to have balance. Taking time to be with yourself is just as important as the time you take to be with your business. Practicing self-love is something that changed my life and career. The practices I share below have helped me gain the confidence to do big things.

1. Nurture a Supportive Community

Everyone likes to be independent. We all want to be able to do everything we can for ourselves. As much as we try, we cannot do everything alone; we need to surround ourselves with like-minded people who support us and help us stay motivated. Positivity is a powerful tool, and surrounding yourself with positive people will help you grow. For entrepreneurs it is good to be part of a mastermind or networking group. I am thankful to be part of Stegela’s Mastermind. I feel very inspired and supported by everyone I have met in the group.

2. Make a List of Things That are Working for You

You’ve probably heard that in order to love someone else you need to learn to love yourself. We all have bad days where we cannot see the love surrounding us. On these days, I like to make myself a list of things that are going right for me. It helps to have a concrete reminder of the wonderful things in your life on days when it does not seem like anything is wonderful.

3. Take Care of Your Body

Taking care of your body is an important part of self-love, but will also help boost your energy. Be intentional with what you do with your body and what you put into it. You’ll not only look good, but you’ll feel good. Feeding and caring for your body correctly will have you feeling the love from your head to your toes.

4. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others

Social media makes it easier than ever to compare yourself to others. The next time you start feeling down about yourself after browsing, know that everyone has bad days. You’re perfect just the way you are and don’t need to compare yourself to anyone. You have so much going for you!

5. Do Something You're Good At

Everyone has a hobby or skill that they’re good at. Practicing your hobbies is one of the ultimate ways to build your self-esteem. Self-esteem and self-love are intertwined on your path to happiness, and you can build both at the same time while boosting your endorphins.
