You Are a Superhero
"It doesn't matter who you are right now, or what you are lacking. All that matters is what you want to do in your life, and if you are willing to go after it."
Lisa Bilyeu is a loving wife, the co-founder of Quest Nutrition, and a superhero. Lisa grew up in a very traditional Greek household, where even though she had big dreams the back of her mind told her, "You are going to be a wife and mother." Although she believes that being a loving wife and mother are noble things (if that is your dream), it wasn't hers.
However, she found herself falling into the role of a supportive wife for eight years. Lisa fell in love with her husband and began to fill the role she was told she was supposed to be in. While Lisa wasn't satisfied with the life she was living, she also wasn't unhappy enough to do anything about it. This left Lisa in the form of what she calls "emotional purgatory" never really happy and never motivated to change.
Lisa's life would change about 57,000% in just a few short months when her husband came home from work unhappy with the impact that he and his partners were making in the world. They wanted to do more, and this is where Quest Nutrition started.
Starting with Lisa packing a few boxes in their living room floor, the company would grow by 57,000%, and Lisa was at the center of it all. What started as the drive and ambition to not lose her house, turned into the love and passion for being a businesswoman.
Each new problem that would come up, she would have to find a solution to. Every manufacturing company that told them "you can't make that" every person that takes "what do you know about protein bars?" was met with a beginners naiveness that would build a company that rose to #2 on the Inc. 500 fastest-growing private companies. But this wasn't without struggle. Lisa built Quest Nutrition fulfillment department from scratch, and even though their health company was rising to the top, Lisa found her health at risk.
As Quest Nutrition grew, Lisa and her husband moved into their dream house in the Beverly Hills. There she sat with a bottle of Dom Perignon by her dream pool, with her dream fountain like she was in a music video. But as she took a swig of Champaign the culmination of her health problems collapsed in on her. For the next year, Lisa would barely be able to eat and not be able to stand for more than five minutes at a time. This was when she realized that with all the power that money has, it could not buy happiness, it can not buy health, and it can't buy more time. This was when Lisa's view on money changes, and instead of using her money for momentary satisfaction, Lisa and her husband asked how we can use our money to make a real impact in the world?
Impact Theory was born. With the money Quest Nutrition had brought in, Lisa and her husband were able to build a studio and a T.V. show that would impact people for years to come. With three different branches of the show, Impact Theory, Health Theory, and Women of Impact, Lisa now makes her money matter by providing access to health and wellness theory, and empowerment to women all over the world.
But Lisa's newest project stems from two loves. The love of impact women and helping them grow, and the love of the superhero multiverse. This amazing graphic novel uses real women, real influencers, and real stories to show that every woman can be the superhero of their own life. You can be the superheroes, to get back up when you are knocked down, and to be the change that you want to see in the world. If there is one thing that Lisa wants you to take with you, whether you are reading this article, or you hear her speak it is that your insecurities and your faults do not matter. What matters most is what you want to accomplish in your life, and what you are willing to do to achieve it. So be bold, stand naked in front of that mirror and be honest with yourself about how far you have come, and what you need to improve upon. Then go out and make those improvements and let the fact that you are not perfect not tear you down but rather allow it to give you the motivation to build you up.
