Your Business is Your Personal life
Your Business is Your Personal life
Your Business is Your Personal life.
I always hear people talking about a work life balance, but that's total bullshit. When you say that you need to balance your work and your life, you are automatically assuming that your work, and your life can not coexist. So basically as soon as you clock in and start answering emails, what, you just die? No! But if you find so little pleasure in what you are doing that you literally can not imagine the idea of your family, or friends being involved, you probably need to find something else to do.
Balancing your life and your business will always be difficult, and honestly there will always be something you will have to sacrifice. But combining your work and your life makes it so that you don’t have to sacrifice nearly as much. As someone that works more than anything else in her life, I have found so many things that will help you stop trying to find this perfect balance, and instead learn to include your personal life in your business!
Ahhhhh the oh so craved “me time” this time where you just relax unwind, and enjoy the company of #1… you. The key to including your business in your “me time” is keeping anything you don’t enjoy doing out of it. Whether you love spreadsheets, design work, email marketing, writing copy, or just planning your week. You can pour yourself a nice glass of red wine, run a bubble bath, turn on some Marvin Gaye and bust out some… spreadsheets, or whatever. But no stress, no anger, just you and some productive activities.
There are so many fun places, and amazing activities that you don’t have to miss out on! Being an entrepreneur means you are in charge of your schedule but it also means you are never off the clock. So the first thing you should do is learn time management. But for those days where you have to work and you want some excitement try working out of the office. I choose to work out of a hookah lounge sometimes and if I'm really feeling like I need a little something extra, I invite a friend that likes to go out and work too.
So I may be a little under qualified to talk on this subject considering I've been single more time than I have been an entrepreneur, but my family has met everyone I work with. I invite my bosses and co-workers to birthday parties, events, and even to meet my family. While right now that is my mom and sister, eventually that will change. The key is to start at whatever level you're at.. If it is your kids, think of all the valuable lessons you have learned from your business, don’t you want to pass those on?
You can totally continue trying to balance your life between your work, and your life… or you can start living your life while you are working, and build a work life mixture that you are happy with. It’s all on you!
